Success magazine

I just realized last night how long it had been since I had posted on here. I was out of town last week.

At the airport last week I picked up Success magazine. The current issue has many articles about financial matters.

Review of Jesus Lives

Jesus Lives by Sarah Young

I have not read Sarah Young’s first book, Jesus Calling. The book jacket of Jesus Lives states that this is a companion volume to Jesus Calling. It is a devotional book which is written as if Jesus was talking to you.
It is a small hard covered book that would make a wonderful gift. It consists of 180 devotions so it can fill half a year of devotions. Each section consists of one page of devotion and one page of bible verses. If you read the devotion page one day and the bible verse page the next day, it would fill an entire year of devotions. You can either read it by topic or page by page. Some of the topics covered are Trust, Trials, Attitude, Assurance, Peace and His Presence.
This would be a great year to start 2010. Not only are we starting a new year, but also a new decade.
I would recommend this book if you are looking for a devotional book for either yourself or as a gift for someone.
I received a copy of this book for review purposes. I did not receive any other payment in return for this review. I am a book review blogger for Thomas Nelson publishers.

Book Review - The Sweet By and By

The Sweet By and By By Sara Evans and Rachel Hauck

The Sweet By and By is an easy read. I read it in a couple of days. Jade Fitzgerald, the main character is the owner of a vintage shop in a small town and is about to get married. While making final wedding plans her estranged mother and sister come to town the 3 weeks leading up to the wedding. With their arrival also comes memories of her sordid past with her hippie mother.
She has tried to forget her past but learns that she has to face her past before she can go onto her future. Her fiancé is an attorney from a well-to-do family and Jade embellishes the truth about her past trying to fit in. She even lied about her parents. Most of the book is about Jade and her past but it turns out that her fiancé has baggage that has to be taken care of too. The characters are well developed and really draw you in to the story.
This story is as much about Jade facing her past and being honest with her fiancé as it is about she and her mom finally coming face to face with their own very difficult relationship.

I ended up liking the book more than I thought I would and recommend it to others.

This book was provided for review purposes only, no cash or payment of any type was received for this review.
