Book Review - The Sweet By and By

The Sweet By and By By Sara Evans and Rachel Hauck

The Sweet By and By is an easy read. I read it in a couple of days. Jade Fitzgerald, the main character is the owner of a vintage shop in a small town and is about to get married. While making final wedding plans her estranged mother and sister come to town the 3 weeks leading up to the wedding. With their arrival also comes memories of her sordid past with her hippie mother.
She has tried to forget her past but learns that she has to face her past before she can go onto her future. Her fiancé is an attorney from a well-to-do family and Jade embellishes the truth about her past trying to fit in. She even lied about her parents. Most of the book is about Jade and her past but it turns out that her fiancé has baggage that has to be taken care of too. The characters are well developed and really draw you in to the story.
This story is as much about Jade facing her past and being honest with her fiancé as it is about she and her mom finally coming face to face with their own very difficult relationship.

I ended up liking the book more than I thought I would and recommend it to others.
