Money as You Grow

Money As You Grow is a website with 20 age-appropriate financial lessons that kids need to know as they grow. The lessons are categorized in age groups of 3 years to 5 years old, 6 -10 , 11-13, 14-18 and 18+.

The 3-5 age group covers what money is and how it is earned and wants & needs. The 5-10 age group information covers making choices, comparing prices and the importance of having a savings account. Information for the 11-13 age group is that you should save at least a dime of every dollar you receive, compound interest and that a credit card is a type of a loan. For the 14-18 age group it is important to know what college will cost, avoiding credit card debt and what a Roth IRA is. The lessons for 18+ is to use a credit card only if you can pay off the balance in full at the end of the month, why you need health insurance and factors of investing.

This is another of the many resources available to teach kids about money and finances
